Yuma city officials urge residents to register to vote Yuma's Aug. 29 election; the registration deadline is Monday.

The election will determine who will be Yuma's next mayor and presiding municipal judge, according to the city of Yuma website. Three Yuma City Council seats will also be on the ballot.

“We strongly encourage our residents to take advantage of having their voice be heard in selecting their representatives in City government,” City Administrator Greg Wilkinson said in an announcement. “The Mayor and City Council make a number of important decisions that affect city services and the direction of Yuma’s growth. They are the people’s voice in City Hall.”

To register to vote or check on your registration status, visit the Service Arizona website. Potential voters can also visit the office of the Yuma County Recorder, which has relocated to 197 S. Main St.

When registering in person, visit between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office will stop accepting registrations at 5 p.m. July 31, but the Service Arizona website will accept registrations until 11:59 p.m. July 31.

Yuma residents can mail their vote beginning in early August. Approximately three out of four Yuma voters use this method, according to the announcement.
