Arizona State University (ASU) has appointed Craig Allen as the new associate dean of Barrett, the Honors College at ASU's downtown Phoenix campus.

Allen is an associate professor at the ASU Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. While supervising Barrett's downtown facility and staff, Allen will continue teaching as a Cronkite faculty member, according to a press release.

“Craig Allen is a great faculty member to be the leader of Barrett at the Downtown Phoenix campus,” Barrett dean and ASU vice provost Mark Jacobs said in the release. “He is extremely well connected to faculty and staff of the downtown campus through his teaching and university service. He loves honors students and has taught them and advised them for years, and he is a friendly, collaborative person.”

Allen joined the Cronkite School in 1991. He is the author of two books, including “Eisenhower and the Mass Media: Peace, Prosperity and Prime Time TV.” He has provided more than 100 book chapters, publications, papers and reviews regarding the television news, private media and the history of women in broadcast news. He was named an International Radio and Television Society Fellow in 2003.

“I am privileged to join the leadership, staff and faculty of Barrett and look forward to Barrett downtown for future pursuits,” Allen said in the release.
