Wells Fargo & Company said its donated over $4 million to various nonprofits in the state of Arizona last year.
Individual employees also gave back by volunteering over 97,200 hours to work at nonprofits, schools and community organization and also donated over $3 million, Wells Fargo said in a release posted on the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce website.
“We have personal connections to the people in our communities – many of whom we proudly call our customers – and we likewise see first-hand a broad spectrum of challenges,” John Sotoodeh, lead region president for the company in Arizona said in the release. “Through our philanthropic donations and volunteerism, all of us at Wells Fargo are deeply committed to making better opportunities possible.”
According to the company, 26 percent of the donations went to education-related charities, 21 percent went to human services type organizations, with 8 percent being donated to civic groups, 5 percent to environment and 3 percent to arts and culture charities, the release said.
Nationally, the company said it donated $98.8 million to 30,000 charities and employees volunteered 1.7 million hours.
