Green Valley Justice Court is seeking volunteers for mediation conferences in civil suits, a release on the Pima County website said.
The conferences are held in regards to civil lawsuits involving issues such as credit card debt, neighbor disputes and landlord/tenant issue, the release said.
"Mediation has proven to be an effective way of resolving civil disputes avoiding the need for parties to go to trial," the release said.
Green Valley Justice Court is seeking unbiased mediators who can encourage a positive solution. "Mediators are impartial and do not take sides nor do they 'rule' or make decisions on the outcome. Their role is to develop communication between the parties and help them reach a consensus," the release said.
Prospective mediators will have a chance to observe and learn from experienced mediators. If selected as mediators, the volunteers will undergo 40 hours of basic mediation training provided by the U.S. Attorney General’s Office, the release said.
