Southern Arizona Research, Science and Engineering Foundation (SARSEF) is holding an open house from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday to discuss the future of Arizona’s science and students.

Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild will attend the event to proclaim March to be the “Month of Scientific Thinking,” in honor of SARSEF’s efforts for the past 62 years.

“Whereas, it is important for citizens in our community to think critically and form conclusions based on evidence; and whereas,science, technology and engineering are vital to the economy of Southern Arizona; and whereas, we recognize the careers and futures of our children are shaped by their early experiences in science, technology and engineering," the mayoral proclamation states.  

SARSEF officials say it is more important than ever that our students here in Southern Arizona learn how to gather the facts, analyze data and form conclusions that are evidence-based.

"SARSEF helps 95,000 students each year develop a skill that will serve them well as they become a part of our future workforce and the voting public,” CEO Kathleen Bethel said.

The open house will be at 4574 E. Broadway Blvd.
