The Chandler Chamber Community Foundation Board of Directors' Leadership Class 32 has won the Chandler Volunteer Working Together Award for its benefits to the community.

"We are very proud of all of our Community Foundation Leadership Institute classes," Terri Kimble, president and CEO of the Chandler Chamber of Commerce, said. "The big picture here is to educate the classes -- priming them for service to the community in a leadership capacity if they choose to do so. Many of our graduates go on to serve on non-profit boards and committees. This award is proof positive that our efforts are serving the community."

The Chandler Chamber Community Foundation Leadership Class 32 took on a food bank project. Early on, the group realized that expanding the food bank project would take more work than they initially realized, since they hoped to combine to former retail spaces into one food bank. The group sought support of McCarthy Building Companies, Spaces Architectural Designs and O'Neil Printing and received pro bono remodeling services worth $75,000. The partnership provided more warehouse space, a reception area including books for children, and a community room that offers weekend backpack meal programs and office space.

The leadership class was honored at a recent breakfast event. Every year, the city of Chandler, the Chandler Non-Profit Coalition and Four Our City host the Chandler Volunteer Recognition Awards to honor those serving the community.
