Uber has expressed concerns regarding Oregon's Senate Bill 1166, noting that it may inadvertently lead to decreased driver earnings, fewer flexible job opportunities, and increased ride costs for consumers. The company referenced similar legislation enacted in other cities, which reportedly resulted in service cuts and limited access.

Zahid Arab, a Public Policy and Communications Representative for Uber, said that Senate Bill 1166 could reduce rideshare demand and negatively impact driver earnings.

Uber Technologies Inc. has announced that rising state-mandated insurance costs are affecting ride affordability, with 32% of each rider’s fare in December 2024 being allocated to these expenses.
