The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has announced the opening of a Business Recovery Center (BRC) in Tom Green County, Texas, to support businesses and residents affected by severe storms, straight-line winds, and flooding that began on July 2. Starting Friday, July 18, SBA customer service representatives will be available at the center in San Angelo to assist with disaster loan applications. No appointments are necessary for walk-ins; however, appointments can be scheduled online.

The BRC is located at Angelo State University and will operate Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., beginning at 10 a.m. on its opening day. Another location remains open in Kerr County at The YES Center at First Presbyterian Church.

Chris Stallings, associate administrator of the Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience at the SBA, emphasized the value of these centers for business owners post-disaster: “Business owners can visit these centers to meet face‑to‑face with specialists who will guide them through the disaster loan application process and connect them with resources to support their recovery.”

Businesses and nonprofits can apply for physical disaster loans up to $2 million for repairing or replacing damaged real estate and assets. The Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program offers assistance for financial losses due to disasters but excludes agricultural producers except small aquaculture enterprises.

Homeowners and renters may apply for loans up to $100,000 for personal property replacement or repair and up to $500,000 for primary residence repairs.

Interest rates start as low as 4% for small businesses, 3.625% for nonprofits, and 2.813% for homeowners and renters with terms extending up to 30 years. Payments begin one year after the first loan disbursement.

Applications can be submitted online via sba.gov/disaster or by contacting SBA’s Customer Service Center by phone or email. Deadlines are September 4, 2025, for physical property damage applications and April 6, 2026, for economic injury applications.
