State Farm continues its efforts to support customers in California six months after the wildfires that affected Los Angeles. The company reports having received nearly 13,000 claims related to the fires and has paid over $4.2 billion to customers in the state, which is more than any other insurer.

State Farm has deployed over 1,000 claims employees from across the country to assist those affected by the fires. Hundreds of representatives remain in California, handling claims on a case-by-case basis, including smoke-related ones. "We’re committed to providing every customer all the benefits they have available through their policy," stated State Farm.

With more than 2.8 million residential and commercial policies, State Farm General is noted as California’s largest private insurer. To maintain financial stability and ensure coverage for future claims, State Farm General submitted a rate increase request in June 2024. This was followed by an emergency interim rate increase request in February 2025, approved by the Commissioner in May but still pending permanent approval.

Additionally, State Farm General secured a $400 million advance from its parent company under a surplus note approved by the California Department of Insurance on June 23, 2025. The repayment of this note will include interest over time.

The company emphasizes its commitment to working with regulators and industry leaders to foster a sustainable insurance environment in California. Customers with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact their local agent or use various communication channels provided by State Farm.
